Now

Updated 15 January 2024. (Now page inspired by Derek Sivers)

Last year I attended a 1-week intensive summer school related to my research interests in economic simulation. My obsession with economic simulation has slowly grown over the last two to three years and last year I was able to dedicate much more time to building the neccessary skillset. I took 7 classes at the University of Neuchatel: Computational Thinking, Machine Learning, Applied Microeconometrics, Monetary Policy in a New Era, Applied Macroeconometrics, Microeconomic Policy and Data Management. Economic Simulation is a long-term project that I expect to spend at least the next 10-20 years working on.

I'm still working at the BFH Business School. In Spring last year I taught the 4th edition of the Power BI Bootcamp short course and the 6th edition of a public speaking course in the Master of Design that I teach with Ferdinand Vogler at the BFH Fine Arts School. In Autumn, I again taught modules in 2 courses of the Master in Digital Business Administration: Enabling Technologies (I teach no-code, 4th edition) and Emerging Technologies (I teach innovation, 3rd edition). In both courses I ran a hands-on day where students were asked to build a prototype using a prototyping kit.

Ongoing is my work as a Data Steward for the BFH helping drive open science through open research data. We met up with colleagues from around Switzerland last year. I've also become a bit of a Power BI expert in the university and am working on a marketing management dashboard for internal use, and running internal trainings and workshops to help spread those skills and my experience.

I'm still a volunteer firefighter (monthly trainings) and I'm still playing a lot with generative AI tools like MidJourney and ChatGPT. On the side I'm reading more sci-fi, working out more, and learning French on Duolingo. I also think and talk a lot about AGI, David Deutsch's theories on knowledge and explanations and effective methods of teaching and learning.
